Milestones & other random information

I figured I’d write a “Milestones & other random information” post every now and then so that a) I can remember these things/when they occurred and b) so family can be kept as up to date as possible (I’ve been known to forget to mention things recently)…

8/1 (17w4d): I SWEAR I felt movement. They say that the first, early movements are like a fluttering feeling, which can be easily confused with gas. Knowing this, I’ve felt a couple things in the past couple weeks, but wasn’t sure what it was. However, Monday morning, I was lying on my side after I woke up, really paying attention to my belly… And I felt it. It was right where I’d think I’d feel it, too. However, I don’t really think I have felt anything since then (it seems like you really have to be paying attention to recognize these early movements), so I’m not positive it was the baby. I just really think it was.

7/27 (16w6d): My first weight gain, which was both exciting and a little odd. Yay - I gained five pounds! Haha…

Funniest thing I’ve gotten my doctor to say to date: “Well, I’m pretty sure there haven’t been any reported cases of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome from soy sauce.” Don’t ask. And yes, my doctor is awesome - she doesn’t make me feel like a total dumb ass when I ask certain questions.

8/4 (18w0d): Wearing my first maternity outfit, which doesn’t really look like maternity wear (it’s a black maxi dress), but it still counts! I’m really getting sick and tired of feeling like I have nothing to wear, since a lot of my regular pants are getting to be too snug, so I’m really digging this dress. It’s so comfy - I know I’ll get a lot of use out of it throughout the next months. So far I’ve bought two pieces of maternity clothing - this dress and some gray capris. I think I’ll wear the capris tomorrow. Yay for new clothes that fit!

Live music baby has been exposed to: Deacon (4/30 - 4w2d), Britney Spears - don’t judge (7/18 - 15w4d), Deacon (7/23 - 16w2d), Bon Iver (7/27 - 16w6d). While the baby surely couldn’t hear some of the earlier shows (don’t worry, he/she is probably safe from Britney), I think it’ll be fun to tell him/her all about this when he/she’s older…

I think that’s about it for now. Up next is our anatomy scan, which is next Thursday. We are both so nervous and excited! I pray that everything goes well and that our baby is progressing beautifully. Oh yeah… and we should be finding out a little piece of information that may help us decide what colors to use in the nursery.
