Time flies when you’re… Pregnant!

Well, for me it does. When we first found out that I was pregnant, 36 weeks sounded like a L-O-N-G time. Little did I know, the time would FLY. Even with all of my paranoia and minor emotional breakdowns (MEB), my pregnancy has progressed much quicker than I thought it would. I don’t want to jinx anything, though… Who knows what the next three months have in store. I just hope and pray that the third trimester is as enjoyable as the first two.

September has undoubtedly been the busiest month of my pregnancy thus far. I knew it’d be the case, since September is usually busy for us – Ryan, Ali, and Pete all have birthdays within five days of each other and our wedding anniversary is the 27th. It’s also the best month ever, so it naturally seems like the shortest.

To celebrate the birthdays, we took a quick roadtrip to Atlanta with Ali, Pete and Linny. We all had a very fun, productive couple days – Lunch at Flip Burger Boutique, dinner at Haven with Carmen and Tyler, and LOTS of shopping at Ikea and H&M. I even stayed out until 1 a.m. (!) with the group at the W’s rooftop bar (which may or may not have ended in one of the MEBs I was referring to earlier… I’ve learned that while pregnant, when I’m tired, in order to avoid a MEB I must go straight to bed without saying another word to anyone. Anyone. Otherwise I can’t be held responsible for my words or emotional outbursts. Oops.).

A couple days after we returned from Atlanta, we celebrated Ryan’s bday at his fave bowling alley. We had a blast, and I have to mention the fact that the girls totally kicked butt. Sorry dudes.

In addition to all of the fun celebrations, we had a big, important task to complete – registering! A couple weeks ago, Ryan’s dad and his girlfriend surprised us with the news that they wanted to throw us a shower in early October. We are so, SO excited about the shower, and about seeing family and friends before the big day. Since we thought we’d just be having one shower in Nashville in November, we thought we’d have plenty of time to register – this just gave us a little kickstart to get it done (thank goodness for online registering!).

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I’ve found registering to be quite difficult! Fun? Yes. But quite challenging. Thanks to advice from friends (I’m looking at you, Stacey!) and online lists and research, I think I’ve registered for most of the essentials. The hardest part, though, is comparing all of the brands. When you’ve never even babysat, and therefore haven’t ever heard of a “Boppy”, it can be quite an overwhelming task. I had so many questions, such as: Is the $125 carseat as safe as the $185 carseat? And is a wipe warmer necessary, or a waste of money? Sheesh… So much to consider. But, like I said, friends, family and online research have really helped. Now, we’ll just hope that everything we registered for looks cute in the nursery…

Anyway, that’s where we’re at now. I feel like we’ve made a lot of progress, but there’s still a ton to do! Until next time…
