Dealz and Stealz!

When I was pregnant, I declined my sister’s invitation to join her at the Oak Hill School consignment sale because (a) we still had a couple showers, so I had no idea if any of our family members were planning to buy things from our registry, and (b) as a first time mom, other than the necessities, I had no clue what things we’d reall want/need.

Today, approximately six weeks into mommyhood, I gladly accepted my sister’s invitation, and I am so glad I did! Today was the 50 percent off sale, which meant that many of the absurdly-low priced goods were eaven cheaper… And what mom (or human being, for that matter) doesn’t like a deal?!

As we trekked through the elements (um, I guess winter decided to show up today?) I had hoped to find a few things that I thought Jett might like: a crib mobile, an aquarium sound/light machine for his crib and a play yard. Not only did I find both the mobile and aquarium in like-new condition, I also scored 17 pieces of 6-12 month clothing, most of which is Ralph Lauren and Baby Gap.

The best part of a consignment sale (or a garage sale, or a trip to Goodwill) is bragging about how little you spent, right? My grand total for the day was $71, which is quite a bargain considering that the aquarium and mobile retail for about $50 each. And you can’t get a Ralph Lauren shirt/pants set for less than $55. Also, with the $71, I even bought a mirror for my dining room for $12.50!

So… Yeah. I’m pretty happy that I finally accepted my sister’s offer to join her for some consignment shopping. And I can’t wait to see what treasures we find at the next sale in six months!

My advice to you… Go to the consignment sales! So many wonderful deals! And after a few Clorox wipes and a load of laundry, your treasures will seem good as new! :-)
