Zzzzzzz

So, last night was the second night of moving Jett’s bedtime to 9:30… There were some good and some not so good parts of the going-to-bed process.

First of all, I’ve been trying to keep him awake from the time I get home (5:30ish) to the getting-ready-for-bed time (8:30ish). However, it’s obviously hard to keep a very sleepy 3-month-old awake. I’ve been letting him catnap if he’s tired… I just don’t want him to take an hour-long nap.

So, one of the good things about last night was that, aside from falling asleep for a few minutes in Aunt Linny’s arms, he was awake for most of the evening. He even sat quietly in his bouncy seat, batting at the toys hanging in front of him, while we enjoyed our dinner.

Another good thing about last night… Bath time! He loves bath time, and since I only bathe him a couple times a week, I think it’s kind of a special event for all of us. Since I had given him a bath around 8:45, I figured he’d be nice and comfy, ready to turn in for the night…

His before-bed feeding and story time went well, and as I put him in his sleep sack before laying him in his crib, I was delighted with the calm, easy evening. Then the crying began. I had decided beforehand that if he cried, I’d wait outside the door before going back in. Yeah… I think I made it about 20 seconds. And of course, the minute I held him he stopped crying.

Each time (and there were a few times) I calmed him down, he’d start crying as soon as I laid him in his crib. After about an hour or so of this, I broke a couple more rules: I fed him again, and I eventually let him fall asleep in the bed. He finally went to sleep in his crib, but I really have no clue what time that was. You’d have to ask his daddy. ;)

He did, however, sleep until 7:15, which is when I wake him to nurse before leaving for work. So, he went almost nine hours between feedings… Definitely a good thing. Now if I can just get him to love going to bed in his crib… before midnight.

:)
