This sample menu for an eight to twelve month old is from “Your Baby’s First Year”…
We are currently feeding Jett cereal and/or puréed veggies and/or fruit twice a day… I had been wondering when we should move more toward three meals a day, and also when we could start introducing some solid-ish foods.
I’m not sure if I mentioned this previously, but Jett straight up vomited when I gave him a teeny piece of biscuit the other day. I felt horrible… He had been eyeing it, so I was just doing my best to encourage an adventurous appetite. Apparently the texture of the biscuit was G-R-O-S-S to him because he started gagging, and then out came the sweet potatoes and cereal I had fed him minutes before that. Oops. TMI? Maybe…
I’m thinking that we could start slowly… Maybe start with some scrambled eggs and mashed beans? Anything that has a little texture, I suppose. I haven’t given him much dairy yet, either, so I might try to start giving him a little cottage cheese and yogurt in the next week or so.
I think we’ll start doing more of a three-meals-a-day (with snacks) structure next week. He’ll still nurse first thing in the morning and before bed (Still curious as to how long to keep that up… I suppose he will let us know), and then have a bottle (or nurse) before having breakfast, lunch and dinner (ish)…
We’ll see how it goes… So exciting!
