Proud to be an American

Yes, I may have been up half the night with a *certain someone* who didn't feel like sleeping. And yes, my allergies may be bothering me (*sniffle*). And yes, I may have waited 1 1/2 hours in line. And yes, most of that time was spent outside, on this chilly morning.

But none of that really mattered as I pushed the blinking red light labeled 'vote'. It makes me so proud to stand there on Election Day, to come together with my fellow Americans to take part in something that people have fought very hard for. It's hard to believe that in the not so distant past, women were denied the right to vote. And yet so many people take this privilege for granted.

I'm so excited... What a day! It brings back memories of hanging out with my fellow Young Democrats, hanging out at election watch parties. I may be a little more cynical these days (unfortunately), but the thill of Election Day never fails to remind me how fortunate we are to take part in such a historical event.
