Paparazzi

Best. Christmas gift. Ever.

Okay, so maybe a big part of the awesomeness of the gift was that it's something that we've been wanting/researching for a while now. And maybe we picked it out ourselves (so thankful for our Christmas money!)... But yeah... Definitely one of my favorite gifts in a long time.

Since our digital camera broke a year or so ago, we've been relying on our iPhones for our camera/video needs. Keep in mind that during this time, we've taken THOUSANDS of pictures, watching our little guy blossom from a newborn into a busy little toddler. So, yeah... Time for a camera upgrade!

We wanted something a little more... Professional?... than a run-of-the-mill point and shoot digital camera, but we also knew we didn't have the skills (or wallets) for an SLR camera.

So, after quite a bit of research, we found this guy - Nikon COOLPIX L810 16.1 MP Digital Camera with 26x Zoom NIKKOR ED Glass Lens and 3-inch LCD (Black). The biggest selling points? The 26x zoom, 16.1 MP CCD sensor and its capability to shoot HD video. And - I'm not going to lie - it looks cool. Oh, and it was on sale right after Christmas, so it was a great time to buy. (I believe Amazon still has it on sale, FYI...)

I'm so ready to dive into this new hobby. So, far, we've taken some great shots (you can probably figure out - quite easily - which blog pictures were taken with my camera vs. my iPhone), but I know there is so much to learn, especially when it comes to photo editing.

Speaking of editing... Those clever folks over at Young House Love have written a very informative post on photo editing... We can all probably learn a thing or two from them, as their photos are always top notch.

Say cheese!
