We've been into something new around here... Handheld eating!
Haha... Sounds funny, but to us, it's awesome!
What exactly do I mean? Basically, I'm referring to things that Jett can hold and take a bite of (instead of cutting his food into a million little bites... Which I still do, of course, but it's fun to have a little variety!)
Anyway, we have experimented with the following handheld items:
Quesadillas
Sandwiches (PB & J, as well as turkey or ham)
Grilled cheese
Waffles
He really likes being able to hold his food, it seems... Such a big guy! Of course, I have to continuously monitor him and remind him to "take small bites" the whole time he's eating (make sure to do the same if you try this with your little one!).
And quesadillas are awesome, since they're so healthy and yummy (for mommas, too!).
For this particular quesadilla, I melted some cheese (any kind will do) with refried beans and baby spinach between whole wheat tortillas. Oh, and I drizzled a little olive oil in the pan before cooking, which added a little healthy fat.
So, yeah - you can't go wrong with this one!
