Date night!

Last night Ryan and I were able to sneak out for a little date night. We went to my favorite place - Rumours East - and also got to see one of our friends perform a bit at Mad Donnas’s loft… Really, it was quite perfect.

It’s funny how things just kinda work out, isn’t it? We had planned to go out tonight, but after realizing she had double-booked her Friday night, Linny asked us if we could reschedule. At first, I was a little frustrated, because a) I had been thinking about date night since we planned it last week, and b) it kinda threw a curve ball in Jett’s routine, since she wanted to change the times a little, too.

After I got over myself, I realized that we would have just as much fun if we moved our date night up one day. And it was such a coincidence that our friend Pat was playing a block away from where we had planned to eat.

We sat outside at Rumours (something that may not have been guaranteed on a Friday night), and enjoyed a bottle of Pinot Noir with a pizza and cheese plate. The pizza special had a sweet corn base, chorizo, tomatoes, mozzarella and parmesan… And was incredible. The cheese plate featured herbed goat, manchego, smoked cheddar and drunken goat. It didn’t disappoint (but does it ever?).

It was so lovely sitting outside. The humidity and strings of lights created such a late summer southern/romantic feel. And the lightning show was pretty cool, too.

Love, love, love.

Judging by the turnout at this year’s Tomato Art Fest, people sure do love their tomatoes!

After driving around for 45 minutes looking for a parking spot (I know… Shoulda just walked from my house!), I was kinda ready to just call it a day and go back home. I’m glad I didn’t though, because it was quite fun to walk around and check it out. While I didn’t buy anything, this year’s vendors were awesome. And it was great to try the Biscuit Love truck that I’ve heard so much about. People watching didn’t disappoint, either.

The TAF was such a fun event for babies, too! Jett seemed to love bobbing along in the Baby Bjorn, sticking his hand in my frozen lemonade whenever he got the chance.

East Nashville is bustling, y’all! I’m not sure if it’s because of the recent national press or what, but yeah… My ‘hood’s got it goin’ on.

MeMe is in Nashville!

We’ve been having lots of fun… We made tacos and watched The Bachelorette finale on Sunday (MeMe watches, too!)… And ate at Pomodoro East last night. I was quite proud when MeMe commented on how well my little stinker behaved at the restaurant!

After dinner last night, Ryan and I decided that we just *had* to take MeMe to Jeni’s for some ice cream. As we’ve already made plans to go back tonight, I think it’s safe to say that she’s a fan! In case you’re wondering, MeMe tried the salted caramel and dark chocolate, I had the backyard mint and dark chocolate, and Ryan opted for the grapefruit and lemon/blueberry. We were all pleased with our choices!

As we were leaving Jeni’s, MeMe commented on how awesome East Nashville is, with all the fun (and delicious) local restaurants… We couldn’t agree more, and it makes you a little proud of your ‘hood to hear something like that. :)

Between the delicious meals, there has been lots of playing, cuddling and hanging out… So fun!
