Kids get to do all the fun things

Ryan and I have discussed in the past the fact that there are many things we’d like to do, but would feel weird doing them without a child. Some examples include: going to the Adventure Science Center, places like Kaleidoscope in Kansas City (we used to always go there as kids… SO FUN!), petting zoos, and so on.

You have to admit - those places are really awesome and fun… but you feel like such a creeper if you go without kids. I just feel like the parents in the place would tell their children things like, “See those adults over there? Don’t talk to them. Even if they offer you candy - they are baaaaaad people.” I almost felt like this when Ryan and I went to the local roller skating rink for our Valentines Day date this year, which fell on a Sunday, a.k.a. “Family Day” at the skating rink. I’m pretty sure we were the only people there without a kid-related reason to be there. Don’t get me wrong - we had a BLAST! (And, apparently, it’s a really good workout), but there were moments that I felt a little weird.

I started to think about these things after discovering the latest *awesome* thing that’s “for kids”… Taro Gomi coloring books (See above picture). I haven’t actually looked through one yet, but they look AWESOME. I heard about this from one of my favorite blogs, seaofshoes.com… The chic who writes the blog says, “They’re cool because they aren’t boring coloring books where you just fill in the lines….it gives you challenges like ‘draw a tiny elephant walking across the dinner table’ or ‘draw a water-breathing creature on this shirt’.” Sounds pretty awesome, huh? I’m definitely getting one (I think I’ll start with “Doodles”), and I’ll let you guys know how it goes!

So, I’m right, right? There are a TON of kids things that us adults would just love to do… I think we’re just too “cool” and “mature” to enjoy them sometimes… I mean, when was the last time you passed one of those huge inflated bouncy castle things and didn’t want to climb in and start jumping? You know I’m right… ;)
