The Waiting Game

Truths about today:

1) I am starting to feel a little on the large side. This is totally expected… I just never realized that it would happen so quickly! Many things have happened in the past four weeks… Going from feeling like an able-bodied pregnant woman to feeling like gravity is getting back at me for something, and the arrival of stretch marks and swollen feet (I call them my “sausage feet”). Take it from me ladies… If you think you’re safe from some pregnancy symptoms (like the ones I’ve listed) because you’ve made it to your 34th week without them, don’t speak so soon… The might’ve just not shown up yet!

2) All of the above doesn’t really matter so much because of what all of this is for. My stretch marks are a badge of pride and my swollen feet and huge-ness are just reminders that in a couple weeks, we’ll meet our little guy. So, yeah, I think I can handle these “symptoms”.

3) I’m both totally nervous and totally excited, but mostly excited. It’s hard to believe that in just DAYS, we’ll be going through the experience that we’ve spent nine and a half months preparing for! We’ve read about this, watched videos about this, and dreamed about this… And now it’s about to happen. It’s all gone by so quickly - I can’t even imagine how fast this next couple weeks will fly by.

4) We’re so excited to spend Christmas in Nashville with Ryan’s mom and Harald this year! We’ve been getting the house ready today, and we’ll be picking them up from the airport shortly! I’m definitely looking forward to relaxing during these next few days and just enjoying spending time with them.

5) Um, Jett could arrive any day now. Our doctor feels confident that he’ll make his grand appearance right around his due date (1.05), but the fact that he very possibly could show up tonight, or in a few days, totally freaks me out (in a good way, of course). A few people have shared their predictions (Christmas, 12.28), but I’m feeling that the doctor is probably right. Who knows, though? So crazy to not know…

6) I actually feel like we’re pretty much prepared. His room is ready (and our room is ready, as well, with his pack-in-play bassinet set up and ready to go near our bed), the car seat is installed, and our hospital bags are packed. Of course, I keep thinking of last minute things to do (Making one more casserole to freeze, finding one more decoration for his room, etc.), but the fact is that if he was born today, we’d be prepared (I think).

7) This has been the quickest nine and a half months of my life.

So, there you have it - seven truths about today.

My 38-week belly pic and a pic of our tree follow!

Merry Christmas! xoxo
