Out & About!
We had a pretty big day yesterday… A trip to the newly re-opened (read: crazy packed) Opry Mills and lunch at Logan’s.
Since I hadn’t been shopping since long before Jett was born, I was pretty excited about this outing. Now that he’s 3 months old, I feel a little more comfortable taking him in public (even though in my mind, I was replaying scenes from Contagion every time I heard a cough or sneeze).
We decided to go as early as possible in order to miss the crowds, but, seeing how it was the first weekend since reopening, I knew it’d still be pretty crazy. We made it through Gap, Old Navy and Forever 21 without incident… Jett actually fell asleep for 20 minutes or so, and I was feeling pretty accomplished, since I had already made some great purchases, like a 70%-off trench coat at Gap (!!). By the time we got to Gymboree, the little guy was starting to get hungry, and that + the 88-degree day + a bazillion new faces, sights, sounds and smells = a not-so-happy baby. Feeling somewhat like a crazy person, I quickly walked what felt like 10 miles (that mall is HUGE!) back to the car. He was a little settled by that point, and after I nursed him in the Logan’s parking lot, he was back to his smiley self. He seemed to love Logan’s (could it have been the all-American vibe?), and was perfectly content the whole time we were there. So… Yeah, I guess it was a pretty successful trip, for the most part. Next time, I’ll plan to use the nursing room in the mall (which I didn’t know about until today, actually) to avoid the tears.
Like I mentioned, I was able to get a few things, including the shoes pictured above.. Aren’t they adorable?! They’re pretty tiny, so I’m hoping he’ll be able to wear them soon, maybe even to church on Easter!
Oh, and both operation move crib into the nursery and operation sleep through the night seem to be going well. Some nights are better than others, of course, but at least we are seeing progress every day!
