Three Restaurants in Three Days
(And Other Weekend Adventures)

Since Jett was born, we’ve been often encouraged to take him along on various outings so that he can become accustomed to our lifestyle…

And with our packed weekends throughout the past month or so, we’ve really heeded this advice. It seems to be working, although I’m not sure who it’s helping more - Jett or his parents. Maybe both? Our confidence has grown, and he’s also become more comfortable in random places - I’m sure those things really play off each other.

This past weekend, we went to three different restaurants (as the title of the post implies)…

On Friday night, Jett and I met some friends at Marche. I was a little nervous, as the time we were meeting them coincided with his evening catnap time, but luckily he was quite a happy camper while we were there. I think the steady flow of noise from the kitchen and other patrons helped lull him to sleep. The atmosphere at Marche is quite welcoming to parents of small children, since it’s easy (and acceptable) to get up from the table and walk around to look at the market items for sale. The food was (as always) quite good… I had the gnudi, which is similar to gnocchi. Also, we scored free desserts because our food took so long. I chose the coconut creme fraiche cake, which was excellent.

After taking a friend to the American Pickers shop on Saturday, we were craving Mexican food and headed to Rosepepper. Since this wasn’t Jett’s first time there, I knew the lights and sounds would either entertain him or help lull him to sleep, and I was right (He slept most of the time we were there). While I love the atmosphere and drinks at Rosepepper, the food always seems a little bland to me. I guess the atmosphere is good enough to keep me returning, though, as I’ve been there a couple times in the past couple weeks.

Yesterday, we met up with some friends for brunch at Tavern, which is quickly becoming one of our favorite weekend brunch spots. We had an awesome room pretty much to ourselves, and enjoyed a nice breeze through the large open windows… The perfect spot for parents with a baby! Jett loved it, and we did too! We started with the pretzel pancakes and red velvet waffle (We can’t seem to eat there without having those delicious treats!), and I had a ham and Brie omelet. Delicious!

A trip to Shelby Bottoms and a Brendan Benson/Young Hines concert (Jett hung out with Aunt Linny while I watched Ryan play with Young) rounded out our fun weekend. Our little guy is quickly becoming a man about town! :)
