Oh, the beauty of a clean closet!

Before we bought our house in 2008, for years (like, 10 or so!), Ryan and I moved from one rental to the next on an annual basis. And since we knew we wouldn’t be staying at any one place forever, there were always a few boxes of “memorabilia” that we would choose not to unpack and instead stash away in closets.

Fast-forward a decade to stacks of cardboard boxes that are falling apart, filled with random stuff. Like, LOTS of random stuff. So, this past weekend, it was finally time to begin the long overdue project of taking on one of the organization projects we had put off for so long. Oh, and this so-called memorabilia? Half of it was trash, some of it was added to the yard sale/Goodwill pile (mountain?) and some actually was “memorabilia” that we packed away nicely in containers.

Going through “memorabilia” seems to take twice the amount of time it should, since you end up sifting through photos and concert ticket stubs, reminiscing. But that’s half the fun of it, right? And at the end, you get to close the door to your well organized closet, knowing that your “memorabilia” is organized and well accounted for.

This is part one of Project:Simplify… We are trying to get rid of things we don’t need/want in an effort to live with less waste/clutter/etc. I believe that we will reap many rewards from this project, and they won’t all be material/house-related. Woot! Organization!
