Weekends are always too short, aren’t they?

We had a nice one… Dinner at Mad Donna’s Friday, Salon Bouge hangout/hair party Saturday, and relaxing/catching up on housework yesterday.

As we were enjoying our pre-dinner Dos Perros at Mad Donna’s, I noticed something (that I’ve noticed a few times since having a baby, actually): People (other parents, usually) have no problem approaching you to talk only to your baby (and say absolutely nothing to you)…

The first time this happened, we were at Jeni’s, enjoying some delicious ice cream. A dude walked up with his toddler, saying “Oh, look at the baby! Isn’t he cuuuuuuuuute? Can you see him? Look at him!” This lasted for what seemed like much too long, as I slowly pulled Jett’s carseat toward me, shielding him from these lunatics.

At Mad Donna’s, a family of three approached our table and began to talk about Jett… Since it didn’t seem like they were interested in talking to us, we took matters into our own hands, asking what their kid’s name is (Henry), etc. They were nice enough, but kept their eyes in Jett the whole time, haha.

While this is completely strange to me, I realize that it’s fairly commonplace amongst parents. and who knows - maybe Ryan and I will be “those” people in a couple years, taking our 2-year-old over to look at a cute baby.
