Happy Thursday!! I figured it was about time that I shared pictures of our new digs... That way, I could organize my thoughts about future projects, etc.
First, let me say that house photography isn't the easiest. I'm working on improving, but bear with me!
Here we go...
Living room: This is the view to the left through the front door. The walls look completely bare (which they are), but what you can't see from this angle is our gallery wall, which extends down the hallway (and is actually the first thing you see upon entering).
Favorite things about this room: The open concept layout, which was my favorite thing about the house from day one. I also love the wood floors and the soft, neutral wall colors.
Things I'd like to change: The funny thing is that we've already made a change or two since this photo was taken. We dyed the couch slipcover, and then ended up getting a new couch (The now-eggplant couch currently lives in the mancave/studio.)! Oh, and we got a plant, too! Next up, I'd love to get some colorful curtains to balance the white walls in the living room and the taupe walls in the dining area, and a high-pile rug (texture!) would be nice. I've also got a project in mind for the wall behind the hutch, and we'd love to reupholster the chair that the cat is sitting on, since it's an awfully lovely antique chair in need of some major TLC. I've also considered getting a little DIY with the coffee table, so we'll see!
Here's another view of the living room. Loving the natural light from the huge window!
Kitchen: The kitchen (like the rest of the house) is small-ish, but cute. The previous owners did some awesome work (Check out the backsplash!).
Favorite things about this room: Again, love the open concept layout. The fact that I can prepare dinner while watching Jett play in the living room is awesome. Love the white cabinets, too - the bright color really helps to open up such a small space.
Things I'd like to change: Hmmm... Not much, actually. Although, I do love the idea of open shelving instead of cabinets. Maybe we will consider that someday. Oh, and some curtains would be nice!
Hallway: I love the fact that the walls in the living room are a soft white... I also love the uncluttered/open feeling of leaving a lot of the wallspace bare. To add a little contrast to the bare walls, we filled up the hallway with our gallery wall.
Favorite things about this space: Well, the gallery wall...
Things I'd like to change: Nothing, really. Maybe a rug in the future? We will probably add to the gallery wall, too - I'd like to see it stretch from the ceiling to the floor in the future.
Bathroom:
Favorite things about this room: The shower tile - LOVE! Also, It's nice to have two sinks and a lot of counter space.
Things I'd like to change: Curtains, shower curtain, new mats... Maybe some art? Also, It's nice having all of the counter space, but we don't need the plethora of storage under the sink... It seems like that space could be better utilized... Hmmm.
Guest bedroom:
Favorite things about this room: Soft wall color, flexibility of this room (it's also my office and Jett's playroom).
Things I'd like to change: Curtains, art, better concealed storage (so that guests aren't staring at my office supplies when they wake-up)...
Jett's room: So, I realize this is an awful picture and doesn't show the half of the cuteness of this room, but at least it shows my favorite part - the built-in shelves!
Favorite things about this room: The built-in shelves, and the soft yellow wall color.
Things I'd like to change: We have Jett's curtains from the old house (the blue polka dot curtains that I LOVE!), so we need to hang them... Also, we have a few things to hang on the walls. A smarter storage option would be nice, too, since (as you can see) there are always toys EVERYWHERE! Haha.
Master bedroom: I'll add a pic later... I don't have one on my camera, and my bed isn't made, so... Later it is.
Favorite things about this room: The light wall colors, the size of the room.
Things I'd like to change: We need to hang curtains and get a duvet and bedskirt for our new bed. We'd also like to DIY a headboard, and it'd be awesome to get a chaise or something similar to (gorgeously) fill up some of the space. We'd also like to hang some art, maybe a fun vintage map or something similar.
So, there it is... Our new digs! I'll edit this post every now and then, and hopefully blogging our to-do list will help us to stay on task!
XO
