After Jett and I stopped by Trader Joe’s to get some fun and healthy treats yesterday (his first visit to TJ’s!), we headed over to Grimey’s to check out the in-store performance that Ryan played with Young Hines (who’s album is out today, y’all!).

Last week, I had decided that, unfortunately, we’d probably need to sit this one out since it might be a little too loud for a three-month-old baby. However, after attending the contemporary church service at McKendree United Methodist, which featured some fairly loud, full-band music, we figured we could probably go to the in-store. After all, I could just step outside if needed.

It turns out that in-store performances are quite awesome for parents and babies alike! For parents, it’s a chance to enjoy a free beer while checking out awesome new artists… For babies/kids it’s a chance to explore new sights and sounds (which are at a safe decibel level, it seems) in a fun/different atmosphere. There was at least one other kid there, and she seemed to be quite enjoying herself.

Exposing Jett to live music is something I really look forward to, so I’m glad that he (and I) did so well at our first in-store! In addition to more in-stores, I hope to take him to some other fun, appropriate music events this summer… Any ideas?
